Atalanta keen on Everton striker Beto

Atalanta are intensifying their efforts to secure a new frontman following the exit of Mateo Retegui, who recently finalized a lucrative €65 million transfer to Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Qadsiah.

With the summer transfer window in full swing, the Serie A side are actively exploring options to fill the void left by Retegui, and one of the most notable names under serious evaluation is Everton striker Beto. The tall center-forward, standing at 194 cm, has emerged as a front-running candidate in Atalanta’s shortlist, according to a report in La Gazzetta dello Sport relayed by TMW.

The club is also considering alternative profiles such as Napoli’s Giacomo Raspadori and Red Bull Salzburg talent Adam Daghim, but Beto’s mix of physicality and top-flight experience places him firmly in contention.

Beto, currently 27 years old, joined English Premier League side Everton in August 2023 after a solid spell at Udinese. His move to the Merseyside club was sealed for a fee reported to be around €30 million, and he signed a four-year contract.

Since arriving at Goodison Park, Beto has featured in 71 matches across all competitions, finding the net 15 times and contributing 2 assists. In the most recent 2024/25 campaign, he recorded 8 goals in the Premier League across 30 games, while also scoring twice in domestic cup competitions such as the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.

His current estimated market value, according to Transfermarkt.com, stands at €22 million.

The forward is no stranger to Italian football fans, having made a name for himself during his two-season tenure at Udinese. Beto impressed with his ability to navigate the tactical nuances of Serie A, which suggests that a return to Italy would not only be seamless for him but potentially beneficial for Atalanta’s dynamic setup.

On the international scene, Beto has been capped four times by Guinea-Bissau, where he has scored once. While his international career is still modest, it adds depth to his résumé and underlines his potential to contribute on multiple fronts.

Compared to the other names on Atalanta’s radar, Beto brings a distinct profile. Raspadori, for instance, is more of a technical, creative attacker with extensive Serie A pedigree, while Daghim represents a long-term investment as a developing young striker.

Beto

Beto, however, offers a middle ground between experience and impact—he has played at a high level in both Italy and England, and his consistent goal-scoring record underscores his value as a proven performer.

Atalanta’s interest in Beto also reflects their strategic pattern in the transfer market: targeting physically dominant, mentally resilient players who can integrate quickly into the team’s pressing-oriented game model.

While talks have not yet progressed to an advanced stage, Everton’s stance will be one to watch closely should a formal approach come from Italy in the coming days.
