The Newcastle United striker has been identified as one of the club’s potential targets as Jesse Marsch looks to add more reinforcements in the attacking unit. According to multiple reports emanating from England, Leeds United are linked with Newcastle United striker Chris Wood.
The New Zealand international was signed by Newcastle in January 2022 from Burnley for a fee of 30 million euros. He has a contract until 2024 with the club.
In 33 appearances for Newcastle, Wood has managed to score four goals.
The 30-year-old is considered to be the best striker in New Zealand. Chris Wood has scored 33 goals in 70 matches for New Zealand at senior level.
The 30-year-old is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Newcastle this winter and the list of suitors in the New Zealand international continues to grow.
Adding a striker remains Leeds’ top priority this winter and Marsch will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming weeks.
Jesse Marsch is a firm fan of Newcastle striker and the Whites could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
The former Burnley man is a traditional number nine, having all types of finishes in his locker.

The New Zealand international spent time previously with Leeds, scoring 30 goals in the 2016/17 season. Wood joined Newcastle a year ago from Burnley for £25m. He has only made two starts for Newcastle so far this season.”
Leeds will have to present a really enticing offer to bring Newcastle to the negotiating table. The Whites have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.

If Chris Wood is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Leeds United.
The 30-year-old New Zealand international could be a very good squad player for Jesse Marsch over the next few years. He is at the peak of his career right now and Marsch could bring out the best in him.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit at Elland Road.
