Everton frontrunners to land Ryan Fraser
The attack remains the key area for Everton to address in the next couple of transfer windows. According to multiple reports emanating from England, Everton are frontrunners to land Newcastle United winger Ryan Fraser.
Fraser joined Newcastle from AFC Bournemouth on a free transfer in 2020. He is under contract until the summer of 2025.
The winger has made eight appearances for Newcastle but is yet to score or register an assist for them this season across all fronts.
The 29-year-old is considered to be one of the best wingers in Scotland. As a member of Scotland national football team, Fraser won 25 caps and he scored four goals.
He is out of the picture at Newcastle, which has opened the door for a potential exit.
The Toffees are delving into the transfer market for an experienced winger and have done well to identify the 29-year-old as a potential target. Sean Dyche is a firm fan of Newcastle winger and Everton could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
Someone with Ryan Fraser’s skillset will undoubtedly add more quality to Dyche’s attack. There is no doubt that Fraser will take Everton’s attack to a different level.
World Football Rumours
According to the report, “On the subject of who Fraser could join, Everton are an early contender. The Toffees reportedly explored a move to sign the 28-year-old winger during the winter window. Newcastle and Everton were in discussions at the time over Anthony Gordon’s move the other way and Fraser was a name banded around, per 90min. A move obviously did not come to pass, though if Sean Dyche can guide Everton to safety, they may well reignite their interest. Everton are known to have their backs against the wall financially and were the only Premier League side not to sign a new player in January. Given Fraser’s career has hit rock bottom at Newcastle, it stands to reason a suitor such as Everton will be able to secure a transfer on the cheap.”
However, Everton will have to balance the books before attempting to land Fraser.
If the Everton can tie up a cheap deal for the player, it may not be a bad signing by any means.
Good signing for Everton?
The Toffees could benefit by signing Fraser as the winger is one of the areas of concern for Dyche.
The 29-year-old is certainly a player that would strengthen the current Everton squad and would be a good buy in the summer transfer window.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit at Goodison Park.
How strong that interest is and whether Everton will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
