Arsenal linked with a move for Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma
The Gunners are reportedly keeping a close eye on many wingers across the Europe. According to multiple reports emanating from England, Arsenal are linked with a move for Brighton and Hove Albion winger Kaoru Mitoma. The 25-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
Brighton and Hove Albion spent 3 million euros to sign the Japan international from Kawasaki Frontale in the summer of 2021. The 25-year-old has two and a half years left on his current contract which expires in 2025.
The winger has banged in 7 goals and provided 2 assists in 20 matches for Brighton this term on all fronts.
He’s incredibly experienced for a 25-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.
As a member of Japan national football team, Mitoma won 13 caps and he scored 5 goals.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Adding a winger remains Arsenal’s top priority this summer and Mikel Arteta will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming months.
The report claims that Arsenal manager has extensively scouted Mitoma and is considering a move for the winger. The Japan international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of winger Arteta wants to target in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
The former Kawasaki Frontale man is a decent finisher in front of the opponent’s goal and can also create some promising opportunities for his teammates to find the back of the net. His finishing abilities when in and around the box will come as a massive asset to Mikel Arteta’s side.
World Football Rumours
According to the report, “Arsenal are interested in Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma. His impressive performances have attracted the attention of the Gunners, reports Fabrizio Romano. Mitoma’s deal on the South Coast runs until 2025 and Roberto De Zerbi will be desperate to keep hold of him. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been keen to bolster his attack and could view Mitoma as similar in style to Mykhailo Mudryk, who eventually signed for Chelsea despite Arsenal’s attempts. The club have been keeping a close eye on Brighton talent, having already signed Leandro Trossard in January for £27million. Arsenal also saw bids rejected for central midfielder Moises Caicedo.”
The Seagulls are reluctant to let Kaoru Mitoma go, but a big enough bid could persuade them to sell.
Arsenal might have to pay over the odds to sign the winger.
Should Arsenal pursue Kaoru Mitoma?
Kaoru Mitoma stands as an excellent option for Arsenal. He has all the skillset required to be a success story at Emirates Stadium. Therefore, it makes sense for Arteta to step up his attempts to bring the Japanese winger to Premier League giants.
It will be interesting to see where the player ends up this summer.
