Unai Emery sees Guendouzi as the perfect addition to his midfield. He is a firm fan of Olympique Marseille midfielder and Aston Villa could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.

The France international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of midfielder Emery wants to target in the winter transfer window.

Someone with Guendouzi’s skillset will undoubtedly add more quality to Emery‘s midfield.

The former Arsenal man will add more quality to Aston Villa’s midfield.

World Football Rumours

According to the report, “Aston Villa are pushing to sign Olympique Marseille midfielder Matteo Guendouzi. The France international only signed for OM permanently from Arsenal last year. But he could be on the way back to England, where he is wanted by Villa manager Unai Emery. The pair worked together at Arsenal and Guendouzi is open to a reunion. Emery wants a deal settled this month. The midfielder has missed former OM coach Jorge Sampaoli this season, having struggled to live up to last term’s form under Igor Tudor.”

Olympique Marseille feel under no pressure to sell and will “demand a significant fee” before letting him go.

The Villans might have to pay over the odds to sign the midfielder.

Good signing for Aston Villa?

It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.

As for the player, Villa Park could be a great place for him to grow as a footballer. The Villans will be able to provide him with regular first-team football and he will be coached by a very good manager like Unai Emery.

It will be interesting to see if Aston Villa make their move for the 23-year-old in the coming days.
