Borussia Dortmund eye Wolverhampton striker Fabio Silva for summer transfer

Borussia Dortmund are considering a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Fábio Silva, as per German outlet BILD. The 22-year-old Portuguese striker is on the radar of the Bundesliga giants as they prepare to reinforce their attacking options ahead of the 2025–26 campaign.

Standing at 185 cm, Silva was once regarded as one of Portugal’s brightest young prospects. Since making a high-profile switch from FC Porto to Wolves in 2020 for a then-record fee of approximately €40 million, his career has taken a nomadic path across Europe. He has spent time on loan in four different countries: the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven, Belgium with R.S.C. Anderlecht, Scotland with Rangers, and most recently, Spain with UD Las Palmas.

Football runs deep in Silva’s family. His father, Jorge Silva, was a defensive midfielder who won the Portuguese league title with Boavista in 2001 and earned two caps for the national team. His older brother, also named Jorge, has played professionally as a midfielder, including a stint with Italian club Lazio.

Despite the frequent changes in environment, Fábio Silva has managed to display his attacking prowess in glimpses. During his latest loan spell at Las Palmas, he featured in 24 league matches, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists. Although his individual contributions were solid, they weren’t enough to prevent Las Palmas from being relegated to the Segunda División.

Silva’s impact isn’t limited to club football. On the international stage, he has been a key player for Portugal’s U21 team, with 15 goals in 28 appearances. He has also made one appearance for the senior national side, highlighting his potential to contribute at the highest level in the future.

With a current market valuation of €25 million, according to Transfermarkt.com, Silva presents an intriguing option for top-level clubs seeking young, high-upside talent. Borussia Dortmund, renowned for nurturing future stars such as Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho, and Jude Bellingham, may view Silva as their next developmental success story.

Fabio Silva

Changes in Dortmund’s frontline are expected this summer, particularly if some of their current attackers are sold. In that context, Silva could emerge as a versatile and explosive addition. Known for his intelligent movement, technical flair, and goal-scoring instinct, he seems well-suited to Dortmund’s quick, transition-based playing style.

Furthermore, Dortmund’s track record of trusting and elevating young players could be especially attractive to Silva. After a series of loan spells, the former Porto starlet is likely seeking stability and a club environment that allows him to thrive. A move to Signal Iduna Park could provide him with the ideal platform to fully realize the potential that once made him a marquee signing for Wolves.

Although no formal bid has been submitted, Dortmund’s interest is a clear signal of intent. As they look to reload and challenge at the top of German and European football, Fábio Silva may represent a smart and forward-looking acquisition. His journey could be about to take another significant step—this time, in black and yellow.
