When it comes to the transfer market, Liverpool are simply one of the best in the business. According to multiple reports emanating from Turkey, Liverpool are hoping to sign Macedonian international midfielder Eljif Elmas.

The Macedonia international joined Napoli from Fenerbahçe for a fee in the region of 16.2 million euros in July 2019. He is under contract until the summer of 2025.

The midfielder has found the back of the net on three occasions and picked up one assist in 20 matches for Napoli this season across various competitions.

He is considered to be the best midfielder in Macedonia. His record for Macedonia is also impressive. Elmas has scored nine goals in 46 matches for Macedonia at senior level.

Jürgen Klopp wants to sign a new midfielder and Elmas is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.

The Macedonian international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of midfielder Klopp wants to target in the winter transfer window.

The North Macedonia international joined Napoli from Fenerbahce in 2019 and his former club in Turkey would be entitled to some of the fee, should a transfer go through. Elmas has made almost 150 appearances for the Italian giants and helped them win the Coppa Italia in the 2019/20 season. However, he has found minutes harder to come by this season, potentially opening the door for him to move to Liverpool.”

Liverpool will have to present a really enticing offer to bring Napoli to the negotiating table. The Reds have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.

Napoli is eager to keep the midfielder beyond the current campaign, but the player may look to take the next step in his career.
