Napoli tracking Al-Nassr forward Jhon Duran amid possible summer move

Napoli have initiated contact regarding the possible acquisition of Jhon Duran, Al-Nassr’s Colombian striker, who could be on the move again just half a year after his high-profile switch to the Saudi Pro League. The 21-year-old has quickly become a player of interest in Europe once more, following a productive spell in Saudi Arabia and growing uncertainty about his future at Al-Nassr.

SSC Napoli

Duran, who stands at 185 cm, joined the Riyadh-based club from Aston Villa in January. The transfer was valued at approximately €92 million, including €77 million upfront and an additional €15 million in performance-based incentives. The size of the deal raised eyebrows, not just for the financial outlay but also because Duran had limited experience at the top level in Europe prior to the move.

Despite the risk, Al-Nassr have seen returns on their investment in the short term. Duran has scored 12 goals in just 18 appearances for the club, demonstrating his effectiveness in front of goal and ability to adapt to a new footballing culture. His performances have not gone unnoticed by scouts across Europe, with Turkish outlets now reporting that his agents and Al-Nassr are weighing up the possibility of a summer return to European football.

According to Transfermarkt, Duran’s current market value is listed at €35 million — significantly lower than the amount Al-Nassr paid for him. This difference is likely to pose a challenge for any negotiating party, as the Saudi club is understandably hesitant to take a substantial financial hit on a player acquired so recently.

World Football Rumours

Napoli, appear to be seriously considering Duran as part of their attacking overhaul. The Serie A side is believed to be looking for a powerful, mobile striker, and Duran’s combination of physical strength, technical skill, and goal-scoring instinct fits the profile they’re targeting.

Nevertheless, a potential deal is expected to be complex. Given the high fee involved in Duran’s recent transfer and his short time at Al-Nassr, the Saudi outfit are likely to hold out for an offer that minimizes financial loss. With many European clubs operating under tight financial controls, Napoli would need to structure a deal creatively — possibly involving loan options or staggered payments — to make it viable.

Jhon Duran

Duran’s appeal extends beyond club football. On the international stage, he has already represented Colombia 16 times and scored three goals, further cementing his reputation as a promising talent. His exposure to international competition adds another layer to his profile, making him an even more attractive prospect for European teams.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Duran’s situation is becoming one of the more closely watched stories. His rapid rise, coupled with his proven ability to deliver in different leagues, positions him as a hot commodity.

For now, while no formal offers have been tabled, it’s clear that Napoli and potentially other clubs are closely monitoring developments. Whether Al-Nassr choose to cash in or retain their investment will be a key storyline in what promises to be a busy summer in the transfer market.
