The defensive department of the Newcastle squad needs quality additions this summer. It’s claimed by British media that Newcastle United are preparing mega offer for Kieran Tierney.

The Gunners spent 27 million euros to sign the Scotland international from Celtic in the summer of 2019. The 25-year-old has three years left on his current contract which expires in 2026.

Kieran Tierney has scored one goal and assisted one more across all competitions this season.

The 25-year-old is the best left-back in Scotland. Tierney has also left his mark at the international stage after netting one goal in 35 senior appearances for the Scotland national team.

Someone with Tierney’s skillset and potential will no doubt be an excellent signing for Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe.

The former Celtic man is comfortable playing out from the back and given Howe’s demands, that would fit in perfectly with his tactics. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.

Whether Arsenal would be willing to sell to a rival who are on the up is another matter.”

Arsenal are reluctant to let Kieran Tierney go, but a big enough bid could persuade them to sell.

The Magpies will have to present a really enticing offer to bring Arsenal to the negotiating table. They have the resources to tempt them but it will be interesting to see if they are willing to overpay for the player.

If Kieran Tierney is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Newcastle.

The left-back has his peak years ahead of him and would be a good acquisition for Newcastle if they can find a way to bring him on board during the summer transfer window.
