Newcastle United pushing to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko
The Magpies are discussing a move to sign Youssoufa Moukoko. According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Newcastle United are pushing to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko. The 18-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
The Germany international joined Borussia Dortmund from FC St. Pauli on a free transfer in July 2016. He is under contract until the end of this campaign.
The striker has found the back of the net on 6 occasions and picked up 6 assists in 22 matches for BVB this season across various competitions.
He is considered to be one of the best strikers in Germany. Moukoko has earned two senior caps for the Germany national team but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his nation.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Eddie Howe wants to sign a new striker and Moukoko is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. Howe has always been a manager who keeps his eyes on the most talented young players across the globe. The Germany international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of striker Eddie Howe wants to target in the summer transfer window.
The Magpies are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
The former FC St. Pauli man is a decent finisher in front of the opponent’s goal and can also create some promising opportunities for his teammates to find the back of the net. His arrival would give Newcastle some much needed tactical flexibility.
World Football Rumours
According to the report, “Newcastle United have made a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Youssouf Moukoko. The 18-year-old Germany international is thought to have discussed a deal worth over £150,000 a week to join Newcastle on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season, says the London Evening Standard. Chelsea and Barcelona are among the clubs known to be interested in Moukoko, who played for Germany at the World Cup in Qatar. Dortmund are trying to tie Moukoko down to a new deal but are struggling to reach his wage demands and Newcastle are well-placed to beat Chelsea to his signature. Saudi-backed Newcastle are targeting Champions League qualification and securing the best free transfers is part of their strategy to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. FFP constraints are set to slow Newcastle’s spending plans following their takeover by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund last year.“
Newcastle United will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Moukoko to join the club.
