Real Madrid chasing Benfica young star Antonio Silva
When it comes to the transfer market, Real are simply one of the best in the business. The reports in Spain suggested that Real Madrid are chasing Benfica centre-back Antonio Silva.
The 19-year-old centre-back has played all his life at Benfica. He has made his way through the youth system at the Portuguese club and he is under contract until the summer of 2027.
The centre-back has banged in three goals in 32 matches for Benfica this term on all fronts.
He is considered to be one of the best centre-backs in Portugal. Antonio Silva has represented Portugal at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 27 caps and scoring two goals, before making his senior international debut in November 2022. As a member of Portugal national football team, Silva won 2 caps.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
By the club’s own admission, Benfica centre-back is Real Madrid’s transfer target. The Real Madrid manager has kept an eye on Antonio Silva for the last 12 months and he is impressed with the centre-back’s performances.
Someone with Silva’s skillset and potential will no doubt be an excellent signing for Real Madrid boss.
The 19-year-old is often quick to scan the danger and is not shy of getting stuck in with some well-timed tackles to help secure possession back for his side.

According to the report, “Real Madrid are watching Benfica defender Antonio Silva. Record says Real are scouting the youngster ahead of the summer market. With Nacho Fernandez and Jesus Vallejo potentially leaving at season’s end, Silva has emerged as a target for Real. Silva’s contract runs to 2027 and carries a €100m buyout clause. PSG, Liverpool and Napoli are also keeping tabs on the youngster.”
Benfica are reluctant to let Silva go, but a big enough bid could persuade them to sell.
The Spanish giants have to fork out a huge transfer fee if they are genuinely interested in the Portugal international.
Good signing for Real Madrid?
Undoubtedly, he would be a fantastic recruit for Real.
Antonio Silva has all the skillset required to be a success story at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Therefore, it makes sense for Carlo Ancelotti to step up his attempts to bring the Portugal centre-back to La Liga giants.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Madrid.
How strong that interest is and whether Real will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
