There has been numerous left-backs linked with Manchester City in past few months. The latest update from England suggests that Manchester City are willing to buy Chelsea star Ben Chilwell.

He has been with Chelsea since 2020, having signed for the club from Leicester City for 50 million euros. The England international’s current deal expires in 2025.

The left-back has registered one goal and two assists in 13 matches for Chelsea this season on all fronts.

The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the best left-backs in England. As a member of England national football team, Chilwell won 17 caps and he scored one goal.

Pep Guardiola is looking to shore up his defensive options and Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell happens to be a target. The England international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of defensive player Guardiola wants to target in the summer transfer window.

There is no doubt that Ben Chilwell will take Manchester City’s defense to a different level.

According to the report, “Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell is on the radar of Premier League champions Manchester City. The Sky Blues are looking at full-back options for the summer, if they have to sell Joao Cancelo. The Portuguese full-back is out of favor at the club and has gone to Bayern Munich on loan for the rest of the season. According to The Times, Chilwell is among the players who is on boss Pep Guardiola’s list. The Citizens did try to sign him back in 2020, but he ultimately signed for Chelsea instead. Chilwell may not be first-choice with the Blues, given the summer arrival of Marc Cucurella.”

The Blues are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the left-back, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.

However, Ben Chilwell won’t come cheap as his current contract runs out in the summer of 2025.

Good signing for Manchester City?

Signing the 26-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a masterstroke from Guardiola.

He could be a good fit for Pep Guardiola’s City.
